Why Horse Agility?

For so many reasons...

Teaching your horse on the ground gives you a platform to learn more about your animal. Any animal, really. Imagine...taking them for walks anywhere and they go willingly, with confidence and expectation of having an interesting, safe, fun time with you.

You become more confident, adventurous, skilled, and build fitness as well. Beats going to the gym. Way more fun!

Also, if your horse is a saddle horse, you and your horse will gain skills and practices which we allow you to feel safer, more relaxed and peaceful and able to ride...anywhere. Think of the new adventures you will have!

What is Horse Agility?

Well...you have heard of dog agility...right?
Imagine instead of a dog on lead or at liberty, you have your horse or pony in an arena FULL of interesting obstacles to navigate. Obstacles you and your horse can go over, under, through, and around. Flags, bridges, logs, small jumps, pedestals, tarps to walk on, hula hoops to step in, water hazards...only your immagination limits your learning and play time.

The International Horse Agility Club

Developed by Vanessa Bee in the United Kingdom in 2010, this sport has taken off all around the globe. There are monthy challenges, events, and training days. It's a global community who's members have a few things in common... The love of equines, the desire to learn and play with their animals in an activity that is based on ground handling and skills...and the desire for more fun and bonding with their animal.

Members can participate in the monthy challenge courses she designs for every skill level. All while in the comfort of their own yards or arenas, throught this on-line program. You may decide to compete for awards, moving up through levels of ability, or a variety of classes, or you may just do the challenges for your own fun. The courses vary, but are easy to set up.
Vanessa has a book and video to get you started on this journey. Her website will inspire

Learning from a local Horse Agility Accredited Trainer
Across the globe there are Horse Agility trainers and Judges, who organize training days, play days, workshops, and competitions.

All teachers in this sport have that same love and joy in being with horses and are mandated to use peaceful, positive training/teaching skills. They help both you and your animal learn this sport at your own pace and with a sense of fun and enjoyment.

As one of the Horse Agility Accredited Teachers (HAAT), my intention is always to help you and your animal learn in a calm, progressive manner. There is a huge emphasis on animal welfare and safety.

My teaching program will first help you become connected to your animal in a new, peaceful way, through the Trust Technique. Improve your equine handling and help develop your body languageteach you important handling and body language skills and take that new relationship into a fun activity of Horse Agility. My goal is for you to have fun, learn new skills in a gentle way, allowing your animal and you to work at your pace, without pressure at any time, keeping the atmosphere positive and purposeful.

If you are interested in learning more, I offer FREE Zoom Presentations. You may book private online consultations or on site private lessons. Due to Covid, there are no group events planned at this time.  Stay safe everyone and go play with your equines!
